Stefanidi wins Gold and Kyriakopoulos silver at European Championship

Greece dominated the Women’s Pole Vault final at the European Athletics Championship which took place in Berlin on Thursday, as Katerina Stefanidi won gold with 4.85 m, successfully defending her title from Amsterdam in 2016.

The Greek triumph does not end there, with Nikoleta Kyriakopoulos coming second with 4.80 m, taking home a silver, which is her a second medal in the event after the bronze in 2012 in Helsinki.

The bronze medalist was Brit Holly Bradshaw with 4.75 m.

The golden girl of Greek track and field, Stefanidi who has been leading the international championships in recent years, placed the bar at 4.96 m but had three unsuccessful attempts, however, she still had the best jump of the day.

The third Greek who participated in the final was Eleni Polak, who was unsuccessful in exceeding 4.30 m.
