Greece's tennis superstar Stefanos Tsitsipas pulled off the biggest upset so far at this year's Rogers Cup in Toronto, defeating reigning Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.
Tsitsipas, the 19-year-old rising star, took two hours and 17 minutes to beat Djokovic in his first-ever match against the ninth-seeded Serbian, a winner of four Canadian Open titles and a 13-time Grand Slam champion.
This comes after his victory over seventh-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem and has advanced to the quarter-finals of an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event for the first time.
Tsitsipas reached his first ATP World Tour final earlier this year at a clay-court event Barcelona, losing to Spanish great Rafael Nadal in the championship match.
In Friday's quarter-finals in Toronto, he will take on 21-year-old German No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev, who defeated Russia's Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday.
