Nadia Bitar is a talented resort wear designer in Mykonos who not only creates one of a kind stunning outfits but models them as well.
Nadia was born in war-ravaged Monrovia, Liberia, and during childhood, her family and herself became refugees in Ghana. At the age of 19, she left to study broadcast journalism and to model in South Africa, London, and New York.
“Modelling enabled me to travel profusely and immerse myself in different cultures and fashion production,” Nadia said. Eventually instead of modelling for others, she decided to create her own designs.
Falling in love with a Greek man, having two beautiful children and building a new life in Mykonos, Nadia’s desire to become an entrepreneur hasn’t stopped and says she is happy “following my passion & creating one-of-a-kind pieces from Mykonos with love.”
Each of Nadia’s unique designs is inspired by African culture and handcrafted in Monrovia Liberia.
“West African street fashion, the colours, sounds, and textiles of my homeland inspired me to create a resort line inspired by African street culture, influenced by my travels and made by local artisans,” Nadia stated.
She also uses locally sourced fabrics, supporting the Monrovian craftsmen.
“As each item is unique, it may have defects, but that just gives them character… and we all love a bit of character!” Nadia notes. Every purchase of her unique resort wear supports their craft and enhances their life with fair wages.
It is just the beginning for this gifted lady, but something tells us we will be hearing a lot more about Nadia’s success in the future.
