Greek take on American Cheeseburger becomes a Sydney food hit

Sydneysiders, prepare yourself, and your tastebuds!

This is not your typical Gyros filled with pork or chicken from the rotisserie, it's a  cheeseburger Gyros by Niko's Kitchen in Dulwich Hill, which is a Greek twist on the iconic American burger!

Nick, the owner of this popular Greek street food store, which opened in Sydney's inner west 3 months ago, says the inspiration for the cheeseburger gyros came about after realising the “city is going crazy over burgers, so we decided to put a little Greek twist to it.”

Inside this mouthwatering wrap is a beef patty, American cheese, bacon, lots of Feta and a secret sauce!

And if that doesn't tickle your fancy, there are plenty of other options on the menu for you to try. Some of our favourites include the tasty Limnos; lamb skara burger (with tzatziki, roasted capsicum, rocket & peri peri sauce ), souvla packs (meat off the spit with salad, chips, pita bread & tzatziki), BBQ octopus, fried calamari and the amazing halloumi chips. And for all those who prefer to skip the meat, there are options for you too; including the vegetarian burger (veggie pattie, baby spinach, fried tofu, fried mushroom & tomato relish) and the halloumi pita (halloumi, olive tapenade, honey peppered figs, mint & roasted capsicum sauce).

Be warned, there are many tasty ( the word does no justice in this case) options on the menu, so make sure you save enough room for dessert.

On top of the list are the injector loukoumades. I repeat, injector loukoumades where you can insert white chocolate, milk chocolate, salted caramel or peanut butter through the honey puffs. And of course, there are some traditional sweet treats on the menu too,  including Bougatsa and Rizogalo.

Only at Nikos can you experience this kind of Greek American deliciousness.
