The “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo has been awarded ‘Athlete of the Year’ and ‘Professional Athlete of the Year’ at this years Wisconsin Sports Awards.
The invitation-only event took place in Milwaukee, a U.S. state of Wisconsin, recognising excellence in Wisconsin sports across high school, collegiate & professional arenas.
Taking to social media, one of the NBA’s best basketball players, Giannis said “Thank you @WISportsAwards for the amazing awards. I’m truly honored to represent Milwaukee and Wisconsin, and play the game I love so much. #Milwaukee #Wisconsin”
Rumours have also been circulating the past week that the Bucks forward superstar will miss Greece’s second round of qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup next month, to prepare for the upcoming NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Giannis, who is currently Greek island hopping and having plenty of fun with his brothers and a group of friends has not yet confirmed whether he will be playing for Greece in Septemeber.
