Evgenios Ioannidis, a 17-year-old Greek chess player has won first place at the European Youth Chess Championship 2018, which was held in Riga, Latvia from August 20th through to the 29th.
Evgenios gained first position in the tournament being undefeated throughout the entire competition, with six wins and three draws.
With 7.5 points in 9 matches, he achieved the highest result and won the title of European Champion for 2018 in the under-18 category.
In Evgenios’ group, there were 75 chess players from 37 countries who competed in total.
The talented player thanked his coaches Vasilis and Kostas Tsarouchas who helped him gain his successful title.
