Man arrested and fined in Corfu for pouring petrol over dog

A 62-year-old man on the island of Corfu has been arrested and fined 30,000 euros for chaining a dog to an electric pole and pouring petrol over the pet.

According to local reports, the disturbing act took place in the area of Solari and local residents who saw the incident take place quickly notified police.

Reports claim the dog belonged to an acquaintance of the accused, who said he was trying to get rid of fleas.

The dog was found to be suffering from heat exhaustion and burns to its body and was immediately washed and treated by local vets who are closely monitoring the dog’s condition.
