The Seamen’s Federation (PNO) called on a 24 hour-strike on Friday which sees all ferries across ports in Greece today, Monday, moored.

The sailors called on the strike after employers rejected their demand for a 5% pay during a meeting with the association of coastal shipowners on a new collective labor contract proved fruitless.

The shipowners offered a 1% raise to seafarers’ salaries as of September and another 1% from June 2019, but it was rejected by the unionists.

For anyone who had plans to travel by ferry today should check with their travel agent or local port authorities.
