On Tuesday night in the village of Krya Vryssi in Pella, a 70-year-old grandmother died as she protected her 20-year-old granddaughter Kiki from her 38-year-old attacker who set out to kill her after telling the man she wasn’t romantically interested.
The two allegedly met at a coffee shop in the village where the young lady was working. From the very beginning, the 20-year-old made it clear she was not interested in pursuing a relationship with him and when Kiki told the attacker she was moving to Crete to study he became enraged and went to her family home that night armed with a gun.
In his attempt to attack the girl he was infatuated with, instead, he killed Kiki's grandmother, injured her 74-year-old grandfather as well as her 22-year-old sister who needed surgery as she suffered severe injuries.
Reports claim the murderer shot himself after the attack in an attempted suicide, however, he still remains in a critical condition in hospital.
