Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has addressed the European Parliament today, presenting his vision for Europe and hailing the success of the Greek people and his government in negotiating and exiting the financial crisis.

"Greece has made it.  Three years later, it is part of the solution and not the problem. This is a success of the Greek people," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said today addressing the European Parliament.

"The institutions' insistence on strict fiscal adjustment led Greece to suffocation," he said.

The Greek Prime Minister stressed that the country has now exited the memoranda, restored its economic sovereignty and "looking to the future with optimism," he underlined.

"Greece's exit from the last fiscal adjustment programme does not mean return to the past. The end of the memoranda is a historic moment."
