Puppies in Greece

A small village community in northern Greece has been left shocked after finding seven puppies dumped on the side of a road with their heads cut off.

Greek police in Komotini a northeast city of Greece said they are currently investigating the killing of the puppies.

Locals in the remote village of Lambro, reported the disturbing incident late last week, and a formal investigation is now taking place by Greek police.

"The whole village is upset about what happened. I hope they catch who did this," a local told The Associated Press.

According to The Associated Press, Greek animal protection groups say attacks on stray dogs, mostly using poison, are common in this area.

Cruelty towards animals has been a huge issue, with Greek lawmakers toughening penalties for those found guilty of attacking animals.
