UN Secretary General praises Greece over migration crisis

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in New York and congratulated Greece for its humanitarian approach to the refugee crisis.

According to government sources Guterres also praised Tsipras over the ‘historic agreement’ with FYROM.

On his part, Alexis Tsipras highlighted the Cyprus issue and reaffirmed Greece’s firm position for a just and viable solution in the context of UN resolutions and underlined the importance of Greek-Turkish dialogue, noting that this was crucial, among other things, for migration, as well as the need for Turkey to respect international law in the region.
