Victoria’s Secret, the leading American designer company with the world’s famous lingerie, womenswear and beauty products is collaborating with none other than Greece’s leading designer Mary Katrantzou, for their upcoming holiday collection that will be showcased at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
“Everything that Victoria’s Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered—and also having fun with what she is wearing,” Mary said.
After celebrating her 10th-anniversary show during London’s Fashion Week in September, the Greek fashion designer who lives and works in London has designed a section of the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which will take place in November in New York and is broadcast worldwide.
Mary noted that her “work is about perception and perspective and filtering beauty through design to allow women to stand out. I wanted to turn that on its head and look at the ‘foundation’ that we wear as women, underneath the clothes I usually design in my collections. Underwear is the first protective layer that has the ability to reinforce a woman’s confidence.”
Models Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Elsa Hosk, Sara Sampaio, Lais Ribeirio, Sadie Newman, Josephine Skriver and Martha Hunt have been confirmed to be strutting down the runway in her designs.
The stylish pieces which are said to be “colourful and uplifting, bold, and strong” are “designed to empower women to have fun with their undergarments and feel free to explore pattern and color as a second skin.”
Designs are being kept under wraps, but a pattern preview of the collection depicts an arrangement of peonies, chrysanthemums and morning glories in pink, blue, purple and orange shades.
The capsule collection will be available in stores and online in time for Christmas. Until then, we will have to wait to watch the show for the anticipated collection’s reveal.
