German magazine Spiegel reports that Greece is likely to bring up the matter of war reparations during the visit of Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Athens this Thursday.

According to Spiegel, the issue is being raised deliberately by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, suggesting that the matter had not been pursued whilst Greece was still dependent of EU support during the financial crisis.

The magazine reports that Greece will launch its campaign to claim war reparations in November with presentations at various institutions such as the European Parliament, the European Council, and the UN.

The alleged amount claimed by Greece is estimated at €280 billion ($323 billion) which includes repayment of a €10.3 billion occupation loan.
