A left-wing politician has called on the German government to take full responsibility for the actions of the Hitler regime and the ensuing atrocities in Greece and at the very least pay back the forced loan Germany was given during the war.
Gregor Gysi said that Germany should pay at least ten billion euros to Greece to repay the ‘’loan’’ amount to Greece, if not the war reparations which Germany claims were settled in a 1990 treaty.
Greece says the ‘loan’ the Nazis forced Greece to give them was nothing less that theft and insists that Germany pay it back.
“In my opinion, the Federal Republic of Germany is still liable for this loan,” Gysi concluded.
