Athens police have arrested the manager of popular Italian style café Da Capo, which is located in the hip neighbourhood of Kolonaki in Athens, for stealing electricity from another shop.

The café, which is visited by prominent Greek lawyers, politicians, reporters, and socialites was audited by a Greek electricity company network operator, which revealed the power meter had recorded zero consumption during their peak busy period and it was then revealed electricity was being used from another shop nearby.

According to reports the café had been paying roughly only one-third of the real amount and police arrested the manager of the store, as the owner was not on the premises.

A report has been filed and the owner of the store will now be taken to court for prosecution.

According to reports, the store clocks showed almost zero consumption even at the time of operation.  The electricity company will be investigating the number of damages and it is expected that the fine will be imposed on the cafe.
