Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was tortured before being beheaded within the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul according to a report by Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, which claims to have had access to audio recordings of the events.

Yeni Safak alleges that based on the audio, Kassoghi was first tortured during an interrogation, when Saudi agents cut off his fingers.

The pro government newspaper does not mention how it gained access to the audio recordings.

Turkish officials have accused Riyadh of killing Jamal Khashoggi by sending a hit squad to Istanbul with orders to kill him.

The Saudi authorities are denying the events reported.
