On Friday 19th October, the Hellenic Caucus celebrated their 2018 Annual Dinner, with almost 200 Greek Australians and supporters in attendance.
The Hellenic Caucus represents, promotes and supports Greek issues of policy, history, culture, education and current affairs. Their aim, to ensure that the interests of the Greek community are effectively advocated within Australia’s political landscape, in particular within the Labor Party.
In attendance was guest speaker Luke Foley, NSW Labor Leader, Steve Kamper, Member for Rockdale, Jihad Dib MP, Tania Mihailuk MP, Guy Zangari MP, Chris Minns MP, Shaoquett Moselmane MLC and Courtney Houssos MLC.
Mr George Houssos, Hellenic Caucus President stated that he is “very proud of the work we are achieving of connecting the Greek Community with the Australian Labor Party.”
He added that Luke Foley "has been a great supporter of the Greek Community throughout his political career" and "has a great appreciation for the hard work and achievements of the Greek Australian Community in NSW and is determined to restore our schools and health system to the standards we expect – this includes supporting second languages, such as Greek, in primary schools."
