Greece’s former National Defence Minister Yiannos Papantoniou and his wife Stavroula Kourakou have been jailed following their hours long testimony before the Corruption Investigators in the case of the legalisation of illegal payments allegedly received from military contracts.
During the exhaustive process that started yesterday morning for the former PASOK minister and today for Mrs Kourakou, the couple denied before Corruption Investigators, Eleanza Zanikika and Yorgos Evangelos, that they received gifts to ensure Mr Papandoniou offers the military contract for the modernization of the 6 S-type navy frigates to French company THALES as well any compensatory benefits that may have followed from it.
