Police authorities on the island of Rhodes have arrested a 65-year old man charged with antiquities smuggling.
According to reports, a police raid was conducted on the suspect’s properties where investigators discovered a small amphora of major archaeological value.
Police investigators also found twelve fragments of amphorae dating back to the Roman and Hellenistic eras and two carved stone reliefs depicting a cross dating to the 19th century.
All evidence was confiscated and the suspect was sent before a Rhodes prosecutor.
