Thessaloniki welcomes the Sacred and Holy Belt of Panagia

Thessaloniki has welcomed with open arms, the Holy Belt of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) which is the only surviving relic of Panagia.

The eminent Metropolitan of Neapolis and Barnabas and many locals welcomed the small Holy Tomb on Tuesday, which holds the Holy Belt, while the local band played the Greek national anthem.

The sacred relics will be in Thessaloniki, from Tuesday through to Sunday, October 28th, which is Greece’s ‘OXI’ national holiday.

The city welcomed the Sacred Belt from the Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos.

Elder Efraim from the Holy Monastery has given special permission for the Holy Relics to remain in Thessaloniki at the ‘Ieros Naos Evaggelisomos tis Theotoukou’ for the next few days, where everyone is welcome to attend church and worship the Holy Belt.

There will be many Liturgies at the Church over the next few days and opportunities both morning and night for people to come in close contact with the Holy Belt of the Theotokos, which is known to help heal people.
