The Municipality of Thessaloniki is planning to equip every apartment and business with an emergency survival guide for extreme situations from earthquakes, snow storms, flooding, forest fires and more.
According to an annoucement by the Council, it is currently planning to print 265,000 brochures which will be distributed door-to-door in the city of Thessaloniki.
“The severe snow storms and rainfall in our city, but also the recent tragedy from the Attica fires, have prompted us to the fact that we need to be prepared and minimise the risk of similar tragedies in the future” said Thomas Psarras, General Secretary of Thessaloniki Council who is also responsible for the Civil Protection unit.
All information in the survival guides comes from the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Interior, and within the guide there will be maps with safety zones and exits for each district along with the relevant emergency contact numbers.
