Greek American heartthrob John Stamos has announced that he has become national spokesman for the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline.
The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline is dedicated to preventing child abuse and supporting abused children. Staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with professional crisis counsellors, the hotline has given assistance to more than 10.5 million children in the U.S. and Canada. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, and referrals to thousands of emergency, social service, and support resources.
The American actor was joined by his wife, Caitlin McHugh and their 7-month-old son Billy, in presenting a $10,000 cheque to Childhelp on Tuesday November 27 in the Childhelp village in Beaumont.
In an interview with E! News after the announcement, it was revealed that the "Full House" star didn’t think he would but prayed to be a father. He continued to say that “I waited a long time, and I like to say there’s a few more angels up there looking out for me. My mum passed away a couple of years ago and then I straightened my act up and she [Caitlin] came into my life.”
John has been visiting the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village for almost 35 years, and now that he has become a father, he explained how he has become more emotional.
“I cry a lot more, I cry all the time. I had some affinity towards children since early on. She [Caitlin] calls me the ‘baby whisperer’, I might as well do something good with it right.”
