Greece’s President Prokopis Pavlopoulos honoured International Day for Persons with Disabilities today, with a message of solidarity for fellow citizens who celebrate the day.

"The protection of the value and the guarantee of the free development of the personality of the persons with disabilities constitute a fundamental principle of social justice of our civilisation and in parallel a clear provision of the Constitution" stated the President in his message.

The President referred to the provisions of the Constitution on the protection of the persons with disabilities noting that by propelling effective actions for the smooth and effective social integration of the persons with disabilities we support them in order to equally participate in the society, always with respect to their value and the free development of their personality.

"The persons with disabilities can, as far as possible, begin from the same starting line and to have the same opportunities with the other members of the society in order to actively and equally participate in the social, economic and political life of the country" concluded Pavlopoulos in his message.
