Christmas Day 2018 marked two years since the world lost one of its most talented and beloved singers, George Michael.

With a career that spanned over three decades and a fan base that adored him, George Michael’s instantly recognisable voice, often described as the voice of an angel, and unmistakable melodies are part of the soundtrack to our lives, including the festive season where the iconic ‘Last Christmas’ can be heard playing everywhere from shopping malls to loungerooms, the video clip a favourite part of Christmas playlists.

Sydney-siders are in for a real treat as devoted fan Andrew, who was the first person to create a Facebook tribute page a day after the world learned of the singer’s untimely death, and organised the ultimate homage, the sold-out George Michael Tribute Show last year, is once again organising the show for the second anniversary of George Michael’s death. “We had a fantastic response last year. All the performances and the crowd were amazing.”  he says. “We’re running it again to celebrate and honour one of the greatest pop icons of a lifetime.

Dress up like Wham or George for a fun-filled night and relive the magic. Musicians and dancers will be performing all of George Michael”s greatest hits live, taking you on a musical journey from Wham to his lastest compilations. DJs will be playing the full collection of George Michael and Wham with video clips.

There will also be George Michael merchandise giveaways on the night.

“Lets continue the legacy of a talented singer, songwriter, performer, philanthropist and an awesome human being! The response this year has also been amazing and we are heading for a sell-out event,” says Andrew.

Gina Mamouzelos

Gina Mamouzelos is a second generation Greek Australian who grew up immersed in her Greek heritage, including the language, traditions, culture and listening to her grandparent’ mesmerising tales about life in Greece. Passionate about ensuring the Greek language is not forgotten among the younger generations, in 2002 she became a panel member on the SBS Greek radio show ‘Let’s Talk Openly.' She graduated with a Media and Communications degree from the University of Sydney and has put her lifelong passion for writing to use working in social media, public relations and advertising. Gina now joins GCT's team as a writer.
