Athens International Airport (AIA) has hit a new historic record, with passenger traffic reaching an all-time record high in 2018, with 24.14 million visitors, up by 11 percent compared to 21.73 million in 2017.
According to data released by AIA, this growth was driven mainly by the strong increase of international arrivals by 13.8 percent to 16.4 million passengers.
Furthermore, domestic arrivals rose by 5.6 percent and reached 7.73 million.
During December, the Athens Airport passenger traffic also enjoyed a robust increase of 9.1 percent, reaching 1.55 million compared to 1.42 million during the same month in 2017.
Both domestic and international travellers increased by 9.9 percent and 8.7 percent respectively.
