Yorgos Lanthimos’ film “The Favourite” has dominated the British Academy of Film (BAFTA) nominations for 2019 with a total of 12 nominations in the top categories.
After winning a Golden Globe for Olivia Colman’s performance as the lead actress, ‘”The Favourite” is leading the way in the BAFTA nominations, which were announced on Wednesday, with the Greek director’s film contending for awards including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Leading Actress, Supporting Actress and Director.
Other contenders for Best Film are “Roma”, “Green Book” and “A Star is Born”.
It is the only film nominated in both the Best Film and Outstanding British Film categories, while Colman’s co-stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone are once again both nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award.
The film is nominated for Best Picture, Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Actress (Olivia Colman), Supporting Actress (Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz), Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup & Hair, Production Design and British Film.
This year’s Bafta Award ceremony will take place on February 10 in London.
