Tsipras accepts Kammenos resignation and calls for a vote of confidence

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, has announced that he will hold a vote of confidence in Parliament after accepting Panos Kammenos resignation as Defence Minister.

Following Kammenos' announcement outside Maximos Mansion after their meeting, Tsipras said that "for four years we had an honest partnership...though we came from different political families."

Tsipras thanked Kammenos for his "irreplaceable" contribution over this time and has contacted the President of the Hellenic Parliament to initiate the proceedings to hold a vote of confidence.

According to parliament sources, the process will begin on Tuesday and conclude on Thursday.

The Prime Minister also announced Greece's new Defence Minister will be Hellenic National Defence General Staff Chief, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis.

Kammenos said he would not support Tsipras in a confidence vote.
