Greece's new National Defence Minister, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, formerly chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, was sworn in on Monday evening, replacing Panos Kammenos who resigned on Sunday.

Apostolakis was sworn in before President of the Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos at the Presidential Mansion. This was followed by taking an oath before Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
