Greece’s Agricultural Development and Food Minister Stavros Arachovitis and Indian Ambassador to Greece Shamma Jain met on Wednesday to discuss bilateral ties and reaffirm their commitment to furthering the relationship between the two countries in areas trade and agriculture.

The Greek Minister thanked the Indian Ambassador for her contribution in launching trial exports of Greek apples in India and requested the publication, in the Indian Government Gazette, of her government's decision to accept the cold treatment in transit method for the transport of kiwis and, eventually, apples.

Furthermore, he referred to the Greek side's determination to protect the reputation of Greek products such as feta cheese throughout its commercial agreements with other countries.

Finally, the two sides discussed the possibility of organising meetings to be held in March between professional bodies, producer unions and exporters of agricultural products and food from both India and Greece.

Deputy Agricultural Development and Food Minister Olympia Teligioridou also attended the meeting.
