Xronia Polla Betty White, who turns 97 today

American actress and comedian who is of ¼ Greek descent, Betty White was born on January 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois.

She is the only child of Christine Tess Cachikis and Horace Logan White.

Betty, a pioneer in the television industry decided to become an actress during her High School years. She was the first woman to produce her own TV sitcom and has gone on to win 7 Emmy Awards during her long TV career.

The actress has made countless appearances in films and on television, but is memorably famous for playing Rose Nylund in ‘The Golden Girls’, Sue Ann Nevins on ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ and her most recent character Elka Ostrovsky on ‘Hot in Cleveland’.

Betty’s other honours in the industry include receiving 3 Screen Actors Guild awards, 3 American Comedy awards, a Grammy, and having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 1995 she was also inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. Not to mention as of 2013, she holds the Guinness World Records for the longest television career for a female entertainer.
