Alternate Economy and Growth Minister, Stergios Pitsiorlas expressed his certainty that the Prespes Agreement will pass in the Greek parliament "with smooth parliamentary procedures and in the midst of a public debate."

He made these statements during his visit to the Greek Sugar Industry offices in Thessaloniki on Friday, adding that the arguments for the ratification of the agreement by the Greek parliament are very strong. He also stated that New Democracy (ND) refuses to accept the proposal for a public debate between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

"We believe that, according to the MPs and the parties' positions, that the Prespes Agreement will pass in parliament. We believe that a majority [in favour] exists", he stated.

According to SYRIZA sources, the parliamentary procedures for the vote on the Prespes Agreement will begin on Monday.

The same source added that during the discussion at the relevant parliamentary committees and in the plenary "there will be plenty of time, in order for all to have the opportunity to state their opinion".
