DIMAR leader expelled by Gennimata because of vote for Prespes Agreement

As most political parties voice their opposition to the Prespes Agreement, the Tsipras government found an ally in the Democratic Left (DIMAR) party who said they support it when it comes to parliament for a vote.

The announcement was made by the party’s Central Committee after it approved its leader Thanassis Theoharopoulos’ suggestion the party to vote in favour of the Prespes Agreement.

Moments after Theoharopoulos’ (DIMAR) declaration of support, Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata announced that she will expel him from the party's parliamentary group. DIMAR is one of the parties that comprise the Movement of Change

“Theoharopoulos' decision to vote in favour of the Prespes Agreement serves Mr. Tsipras and his plans and can't be accepted," said KINAL in an announcement on Sunday.

Moreover, Gennimata calls for the convention of an extraordinary political Congress of the Movement for Change at the end of March.

“We believe it does not good for the national interests and instead of healing the wounds of past, unfortunately, it opens new ones and this is already visible.

Nobody has the right to divide again the Greek people,” said Gennimata.
