Leading NBA basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo has revealed he has his sights set on joining Greece for the FIBA Basketball World Cup this summer in China.

Although the ‘Greek Freak’ has a busy schedule ahead of him, playing for the Bucks and being named Captain of the 2019 All-Star team, Giannis told The National Herald he intends on playing for Greece’s national team.

“I don’t want to think about (being the) MVP. But, I want to be there for the Greek National Team. I hope I’m fit enough by the end of the season in order to represent Greece,” said Giannis.

Greece qualified for the World Cup back in September and they are now ranked eighth in the FIBA world rankings, however, the addition of Giannis will definitely give them an edge at the international tournament this summer.

Antetokounmpo has had an outstanding season and has cemented himself as a legitimate MVP candidate.

The 24-year-old superstar is boasting career highs in rebounds (12.6), assists (5.9), and field goal percentage (57.2 percent) while scoring an average 26.7 points per game.
