FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has thanked parliamentarians in Athens and Skopje for ratifying the Prespes Agreement and allowing his country to join NATO under its new name, North Macedonia.

Zaev stated this during the ceremony to raise the NATO flag, alongside the country's flag outside the government's headquarters. The ceremony was attended by ministers, NATO staff and NATO member-state ambassadors.

He furthermore stated that the ratification of the Prespes Agreement led to the ratification of the NATO Accession Protocol for his country and to fulfilling a strategic goal.

On Twitter, Zaev stated “the future is no longer fateful. We have succeeded in putting our country on the right path. We are becoming the 30th full NATO member. We are becoming a secure country. It’s a new page in our history. Long live the Republic of North Macedonia."
