Thousands of family, friends, and locals from Crete turned up to bid a final farewell to young couple Rodoula Tsgaraki and Kostas Giannakis, as well as Rodoula’s sister Marinela and her mother Maria, who were all laid to rest yesterday after tragically losing their lives when their car was caught in a flash flood on Saturday night.
Relatives have been left deeply saddened by the tragedy, as the four family members were returning home from a wedding celebration when their car was swept away by a swollen river at Geropotamos river.
The young couple had only been married for a year and have left behind an eight-month-old baby who is now in the care of grandparents.
A crowd of people gathered to pay their final respects to the young couple who were buried at Kosta’s hometown.
Earlier in the day, in Archanes, 20-year-old Marinela Tsagaraki and her 58-year-old mother Maria were also laid to rest.
