Aegean Airlines set to launch seven new international routes for 2019

Aegean Airlines has announced it will launch seven new international destinations from Athens in time for peak season 2019.

According to the company, Athens will be directly connected to Marrakesh, Casablanca, Ibiza, Valencia, Sarajevo, Tunis, and Skopje, while adding another flight on the Thessaloniki-Hannover route.

Aegean is also planning on increasing seat capacity by 700,000 on the international market, bringing the capacity on international routes to 10.3 million and on all its routes to 17.7 million. The increased seating capacity relates to the whole year but will be more pronounced during the winter months and at the beginning and end of the tourist season (April, May, and October).

The company also noted it will offer more flights and seats between Athens and main western European destinations such as Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Zurich, Vienna, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Porto. In addition, many other routes (Athens to Luxembourg, Malta, Venice, Bologna, Naples, Catania, and Malaga) will start operating earlier in season or with increased capacity.

The airline is responding to new accommodation investments in tourism and working towards the extension of the tourist season, CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis said, utilising Aegean's investments in aircraft and technology.
