Greek FM delegation visits North Macedonia

The Tsipras government on Tuesday sent a delegation from the Foreign Ministry to meet with North Macedonia, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, to promote economic cooperation.

The delegation was headed by Secretary General of International Economic Relations Yiannis Brachos and the director of the Prime Minister's economic office, George Tsipras.

According to a statement by the government of North Macedonia, the two sides reviewed the benefits from the implementation of the Prespes Agreement and the opportunities to boost trade that would benefit both neighbouring countries.

Zaev, the statement said, underlined that such meetings would become more frequent in the future, as North Macedonia has begun to build a sincere friendship with Greece. He mentioned as sectors of collaboration the economy, firstly, gradually expanding to the cultural, educational and health sectors. He reiterated his country's commitment to the Agreement and said that the benefits would become visible to both countries. He also said that the accession talks for NATO membership were progressing at a fast rate and comprises a great success for North Macedonia and its people.

On the Greek side, Brachos confirmed Greece's commitment to building ties of friendship with North Macedonia and boosting collaboration through initiatives and coordinated actions in their respective economic sectors.
