A powerful explosion occurred this morning at an outdoor parking lot in Glyfada, injuring an Australian national.
Police and firefighters were dispatched to 128 Vouliagmenis Avenue just after 10am this morning, after witnesses heard “multiple” explosions.
The man whose condition is said to be serious, is being treated at the Asklipeio General Hospital in Voula.
It is not clear whether the explosion was deliberate and the Australian man was the intended target.
The fire service confirmed four vehicles were on fire when the first responders arrived at the scene. It is believed the explosion occurred after the unnamed man came out of the local gym and tried turning on his Mercedes Benz car.
Authorities have closed traffic in both directions as bomb experts and police investigate.
