Voting results of both the upcoming Euro Parliament and local government elections will show SYRIZA the exit door, New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday addressing his party's parliamentary group.

"What happened in Greece in the last four years allow us to reach conclusions on the upcoming Euro parliament elections," Mitsotakis said. "Everything will be judged in the successive elections in 2019," the main opposition leader said, referring to May's double elections and to the national elections scheduled for October, at the end of the current government's term.

"The result of the Euro elections and of the local government elections will show SYRIZA the door," he said, adding, "We know what must change in the country, that's why we are unveiling all the aspects of our political programme. The more (Prime Minister Alexis) Tsipras says that things are going well, the angrier Greeks get."

Mitsotakis insisted that his party is open to everyone, and called on supporters to "stand beside" him on the front lines. "I will say it openly. The most effective way to punish SYRIZA is to vote for ND, the only political force that can lead the country steadily, without the threat of political instability," said Mitsotakis.

"Together we have achieved many things in the last three years. We have worked hard and I am certain that on May 26 the Greek people will open the door to a major political change," he told the parliamentary group, adding that his party, which expresses rationality, stability and growth, aims at "a government of all Greeks, with the most worthy of Greeks."
