Bulgarian hitman denies murdering John Macris saying he was “just on holidays” in Greece

A Bulgarian alleged hitman charged with the murder of John Macris in Athens last October denies the charges telling a magistrate he was on holidays in Greece and has nothing to do with the killing.

In regards to being spotted at a café following Macris, the Bulgarian suspect claims he was simply having an ice-cream.

The 31-year-old has been remanded in custody after a short interrogation by an investigating judge and will now go to prison as the judge gathers evidence in the case.

His lawyer, Alexandros Lykourezos, said his client had “answered a few questions put to him” and denied the charge of murder.

Last Tuesday the 31-year-old Bulgarian was arrested in Athens, and then charged with Macris’ murder.

Police reportedly have a witness who has identified the Bulgarian as the man caught on CCTV shooting Macris, however, he has denied this saying he is a much bigger man.

The witness, who knows the accused, also revealed to police that he used to practice shooting guns in Bulgaria.
