Easter Sunday Lunch at Athens’ Top Hotels

Easter lunch is a wonderful excuse to celebrate the most important festivities of the Greek Orthodox faith, ideally together with family and friends. Some prefer outdoorsy dancing, feasting, and drinking around the lamb on the spit, while others find comfort in instead enjoying an elegant lunch at an upscale hotel. Apart from high-level cuisine and a glamorous ambiance, there are no dishes to deal with later!

With a spanning view over the capital, the Grand Bretagne’s GB Roof Garden transforms into a village avli (yard) and serves up a traditional Greek Easter lunch. There is lamb on the spit and a broad variety of customary meze dishes, as well as wine, ouzo and of course a plentiful Easter buffet with cold and hot dishes. At € 85 per person.

The King George Hotel welcomes diners at its Tudor Hall on Saturday night following the Anastasi service, while the following day the executive chef Asterios Koustoudis prepares a special Easter feast with a side of beautiful panoramic views of the city. At €75 per person.

At the Athens Hilton’s Vyzantino restaurant you can look forward to a festive atmosphere and a traditional feast that includes lamb on the spit, kokoretsi, mageiritsa, cold dishes and a dessert buffet that includes a chocolate fountain. At € 65 per person. Before or after lunch head to the Galaxy bar for an aperitif or digestif cocktail and enjoy the stunning city vistas.

The St. George Lycabettus hotel will be serving two types of mageiritsa soup and fricasse lamb on the night of Holy Saturday (€ 45 per person) at its «Le Grand Balcon» and «La Suite Lounge» restaurants. For Easter Sunday lunch, at € 45/άτομο the hotel will serve a customary lunch with a plethora of hot and cold dishes. Child-minders will also be present to entertain your little ones in a specially-created play area.

On the night of Holy Saturday, chef Nikolas Yiannopoulos will be cooking up a sumptuous dinner at Parliament restaurant of the NJV Plaza Hotelat € 60 per person. On Easter Sunday the hotel will host a buffet loaded with traditional dishes such as lamb, gardoumbakia, kokoretsi with thyme and more, at € 70 per person.

The Margi Hotel’s Margi Farm in the area of Kalyvia will be presenting a celebratory Easter Sunday feast from their open-air kitchen that includes a stone oven and a rotisserie. The spring-themed event will have an Easter buffet (at € 79 for adults and € 49 for children up to the age of 12) that will include traditional goodies such as wild herb pie, crepes with spinach and formaela cheese, lamb and kokoretsi, and delicious salads.
