The General Director of Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) Michalis Psilos condemned the attack by the Israeli military on the Gaza offices of Turkish news agency Anadolu on Saturday.
“It is imperative that we defend the freedom of the press against such attacks,” Psilos added.
The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), in a statement issued concerning the attack, said “the security of journalists is a prerequisite for freedom of speech and therefore calls for special attention to the lives and health of journalists doing their job in the field.”
Israeli warplanes hit the Anadolu building in Gaza with at least five rockets on Saturday, following reports that two Israeli soldiers has been injured by gunfire near the Gaza-Israel buffer zone on Friday.
No injuries or deaths were reported at the Anadolu News Agency Gaza office.
