Greek olive oil producer Giorgos Sakellaropoulos from Lakonia, has set a world record for a Greek company, winning their 100th award in international competitions.

The 100% Greek-owned olive grove company, which is based in Sparti, Lakonia, has dazzled international markets over the last few years with the quality of its organic products, focusing on the cultivation, production, and packaging of their olive oil products.

The winning Greek olive oil comes from olive groves near Mount Parnon and Mount Taygetos in Laconia Prefecture, Peloponnese and the latest accolade was presented to them in New York, where the Sakellaropoulos’ business won its 100th prize in the largest olive oil competition in the world- 'NYIOOC 2019.'

“This award is very significant to us as it comes during one of the most difficult years for the Greek olive oil industry and signals a new era of creation and development for us,” Giorgos told Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

Only late last year, Majestic also ranked first among 30 countries in the Best Condiment-Flavored Olive Oil at the annual World Ranking Evoo (EVOOWR) competition.

The family business exports to over 15 countries, with exports accounting for 90 percent of its production. “Our vision is to continue producing innovative organic olive oil products of high quality, with unique taste and flavor, but mostly with high value for human health,” Sakellaropoulos said.
