Greece's young tennis stars Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas are both through to the semi-finals of the Italian Open in Rome.

Maria had full control of her quarterfinal match against Kristina Mladenovic, even though she lost the first set. With a 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 win, the 23-year-old is now into the Premier 5 semifinals.

"It's pretty big. Something that I think has happened for the first time in tennis history," Maria said. "I'm pretty sure about that because we have never had two good players playing at the same time. Very proud for both of us," said Maria of both herself and Stefanos making it through to the semifinal round.

Federer withdrew from his quarter-final clash against Tsitsipas due to a right leg injury, allowing Greece’s number 7 world ranked player a rest before he faces Rafael Nadal on Saturday.

Best of luck Stefanos and Maria!
