Greek Paralympian Antonis Tsapatakis organised a protest named “I’ll be back in 5 minutes” in the heart of Thessaloniki, sending a very strong message to those who illegally use parking spots reserved for those with disabilities.
Greece’s People with Disabilities in cooperation with Tspatakis and the Traffic Police of Thessaloniki organised the special protest with the aim of highlighting the daily challenges faced by those with disabilities. The protest aims to serve as a reminder that everyone must respect disabled people and their need for parking spaces.
The protest took place at Nikis Avenue, at the centre of Aristotle Square, where hundreds of wheelchairs were placed along the road with a note on the back of each wheelchair saying, “I’ll be back in 5 minutes,” giving those who park in disabled spaces a taste of what it feels like.
“We hope that people who park in disability spots understand that there is a limit of where they should park,” said organiser Dimitris Antoniou.
