Greek Coast Guard authorities rescued 83 migrants and refugees in the waters off the islands of Chios and Lesvos on Wednesday.
According to authorities the two foreign nationals who commanded the vessels carrying the human cargo, one aged 43 and the other 17, were arrested.
The two incidents were reported at the sea region Agrielia of Lesvos and involved two dinghies carrying 32 and 36 migrants and refugees, respectively. The foreign nationals were transferred to the port of Mytilene while the two drivers of the boats, both foreign nationals, were arrested.
In a separate incident, a Coast Guard patrol vessel located island a dinghy with 15 migrants and refugees on board northeast of Chios. The foreign nationals were transferred to the port of Chios.
