Athens' annual Summer Nostos Festival to kick off June 23

The Summer Nostos Festival (SNFestival) will kick off on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens.

The SNFestival is a wonderful summer celebration for the entire city, which is open and free for every resident and every visitor and is organized and exclusively funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Festival organisers say the Festival encapsulates the idea of “Nostos” (homecoming), the inexhaustible desire to return to all things familiar; which have helped make us nostalgic.

For seven days, visitors will be given the opportunity to enjoy a variety of music performances, games, dancing, sports events, an international conference on philanthropy, and many more events during both day and night.

Admission is free for all, and the festival is addressed to visitors of all age groups and interests, aspiring to become a friendly creative platform where people can get together, express themselves and exchange ideas.

Every June, the week-long SNFestival invites everyone to travel back to their favorite summers, guided by music, dance and melodies, stories and laughter, exercise and play, and live yet another unforgettable beginning of summer!

The SNFestival finds an ideal venue in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), activating multiple spaces in the SNFCC, both indoors and outdoors, and reaffirming the SNFCC’s mission to offer a dynamic, open public space that is accessible to all. In this way, the SNF returns, once a year, to the “home” it created for all people.

The open events of the 2019 SNFestival will take place from June 23rd to June 30th, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), with free admission to all. As every year, on June 23rd, on the occasion of World Olympic Day, the evening race SNF RUN: Running into the Future will be held.

As part of the 2019 SNFestival, the 8th SNF Conference will take place from June 24th to June 25th, 2019 at the SNFCC.  In addition on June 26th, 2019 the 2nd SNF Agora Institute  Workshop will take place, a collaboration between the SNF with the Johns Hopkins University as part of the SNF’s monthly series Dialogues.
