According to government sources, Greek political leaders will take part in a live televised debate which will be broadcasted on ERT on July 1, 2019.
The debate is expected to include Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, leader of ruling SYRIZA, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, leader of the main opposition New Democracy (ND), Dimitris Koutsoumbas of the Communist Party (KKE), Fofi Gennimata of the center-left Movement for Change (KINAL) and Vasilis Leventis of the Union of Centrists.
The schedule date for the debate falls six days before the country's general elections.
Government sources have also stated that ND and KKE both objected to the inclusion of the leader of far-right Greek Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos arguing that the debate should only include the parties that are represented in Parliament.
