Five world leading Greek scientists, aged under 40, who excel at American universities, received huge recognition at the 2019 Bodossaki Foundation scientific awards.
The Prize in Applied Science / Technology was awarded to Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Konstantinos Daskalakis. In the field of Social Sciences, the awards were given to Professor at the University of Minnesota, Lucas Karabarbounis, as well as Professor at Brown University, Stelios Michalopoulos. In the field of Basic Sciences, the award was received by Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, John Bourbakis. The Life Sciences Prize was awarded to the Associate Professor at the University of Mount Sinai Medical School in New York, Panayiotis Roussos.
The Bodossaki Foundation Scientific Prizes and Awards were established as part of the Foundation’s public benefit activities in the field of education. and their objective is to recognise and support the intellectual work of Greek scientists aged up to 40.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees also gave 20,000 euros to each scientist, who specialise in the following:
KONSTANTINOS P. DASKALAKIS
Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his work in the field of Applied Science (Computing Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Networks and Communications, Generation and Energy Management Systems, Robotics, Electronic Systems).
LOUKAS CH. KARABARBOUNIS
Associate Professor, University of Minnesota for his work in the field of Social-Economic Sciences (Economic Science or Political Science or Law).
STELIOS G. MICHALOPOULOS
Associate Professor, Brown University for his work in the field of Social-Economic Sciences (Economic Science or Political Science or Law).
GIANNIS CH. MPOURMPAKIS
Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh for his work in the field of Science (Chemistry).
PANAGIOTIS A. ROUSSOS
Associate Professor, Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai for his work in the field of Life Sciences (Biomedical Sciences).
